Novel ratrace mixer converts millimeter waves

Microstrip ratrace mixers offer high performance in a simple structure. Although the basic design is fairly mature, a novel microstrip approach has been developed which features extremely-high isolation between the local-oscillator (LO) and intermediate-frequency (IF) ports. The novel mixer operates by placing the IF output port on the RF incident arm of the retrace.
