Abstract
Nonuniform quantization of mid-variables for such as the forward and backward recursion metrics for the maximum a posteriori turbo code decoding algorithm is studied. Simulation show that mid-variables have special distribution characteristics, which allow for much better performance compared with uniform quantization.
