Abstract

Nonmonotonic reasoning provides a rigorous theoretical foundation to capture and reason about the uncertainties arising from electronic payment processing on the Web. This paper proposes an agent-based electronic payment service which is underpinned by nonmonotonic reasoning in general and possibilistic deduction in particular. © 2005 IEEE.
