Abstract

In the historic past, when the planet threatened human livelihood, Indigenous communities performed rain dances to seek relief. In a climate-changed future where organisms are extinct and plants face drought, Nonhumotion 2.0 asks robots to perform a rain dance.

Two robots are programmed to perform carefully synchronized looping movements. Projection, visual design, and lighting construct a post-apocalyptic vision of a planet facing severe weather, where only robots ask for mercy through ritualistic dance.
