Abstract

The present study aims at investigating the effects of personality traits on employees’ preference of emotional labor strategies. Data from a sample of 167 front line nurses was used to explore the relationship between neuroticism and deep acting, as well as the mediating role of feedback in this relationship. Results show that Neuroticism was associated with less job feedback, more surface acting, and less deep acting; while feedback was positively related to deep acting. Additionally, feedback fully mediated the relationship between neuroticism and deep acting. Implications and directions for future research and practices are addressed.
