Abstract
The authors present a study of degeneracy conditions for TE and TM modes in symmetric anisotropic waveguides with isotropic claddings. They have developed universal charts for two special types of waveguides, from which the degenerate propagation constants for TE0 and TM0 modes and the required film thickness can be determined.
