Abstract

Robots have many applications in recent years. In this paper, we propose a modular combat robot as a tool for teaching and learning coding in STEM education. The combat robot is connected with a mobile app controller via Bluetooth technology. The mobile app controller can control the movement of combat robot via a joystick interface. STEM students can develop different combat modules to design different game play for the combat robot. To increase the speed of data transmission between the combat robot and mobile app controller, we propose a new communication protocol to reduce the payload during data transmission. We demonstrate how to use our combat robot in STEM education and give suggestions for future development.
