Abstract
Power system stability has been a fundamental topic in power engineering area. Recently, with the growth of load demand and the utilization of renewable energy, the preventive control of power system transient stability becomes more challenging. Following the trend of applying intelligent approaches to solve stability problems, this paper proposes a decision tree (DT)-based online preventive control scheme which includes a new database proposed for generation rescheduling. The variation of load, wind power, and generation scheduling are simultaneously included in the proposed database and the DT is trained in a self-adaptive way to avoid unnecessary increase of cost and to accelerate the overall computational speed. The proposed preventive control scheme is tested on New England 39-bus system and the results verify its effectiveness and efficiency. © 2016 IEEE.
