Abstract

Miniaturization on planar printed-circuit antennas by loading the substrate of very high permittivity materials (εr = 38) has been experimentally demonstrated on the planar inverted-F, microstrip, and dielectric resonator antennas. The results show that the size reduction is achieved with the gain comparable with that of the same type of antenna with low dielectric constant. It is achieved by adding a superstrate of higher permittivity materials (εr = 80).
