Abstract

A new broadband planar ME-dipole antenna element with integrated balun is proposed. The antenna has a bandwidth of 55% from 25 GHz to 44 GHz with a peak gain of 5.3 dBi. A novel integrated balun with broad operating bandwidth is designed for feeding. The antenna yields advantages of small size, wide bandwidth, low cost and stable gain. The proposed antenna can be used in 5G applications to cover the 28, 37, 39 GHz frequency band.
