Abstract

A printed magneto-electric (ME) dipole antennas fed by microstrip line is investigated for millimeter-waves operation. An L-shaped probe is employed to couple the energy from the ME dipole to a microstrip feedline mounted below the grounded plane. For back lobe reduction, a mushroom-like high-impedance surface is added to cover the microstrip feedline. An impedance bandwidth of over 44 % with stable realized gains and unidirectional radiation patterns is achieved.
