Abstract
A high-order filter synthesis using micro-ring resonators was presented. A widely tunable WDM filter based on 3rd-order micro-ring resonators was demonstrated using a vernier architecture with polarization diversity. The use of a high-index contrast material platform such as Hydex™ allowed microrings of very small radii to be fabricated. It was observed that standard techniques of filter synthesis developed for microwave filter networks can be applied to micro-ring resonators to synthesize amplitude and phase filters of almost any desired spectral responses.
