Abstract
In this paper, a meshless method based on the kernel particle approximation is employed for the simulation of the human proximal femur. The proposed formulation considers treatments of nonconvex boundaries and material discontinuities in the bone structure. A preprocessor is developed for the generation of the discretized scatter particles model. Application examples were employed to explore certain stress distribution phenomena in the human proximal femur with consideration for the detrimental effects of infarction as well as aging. The effects of stress variations were also examined exposing some very interesting biomechanical features.
