Abstract
This chapter translates four short texts related to the healing powers of Buddhist “medicine wizards” (hse weikza) in contemporary Myanmar. The first two are translations from the Burmese of practices involving the recitation of Pāli verses and the drawing and ingestion of sacred diagrams for the purposes of curing a variety of physical maladies. The third is a testimonial of someone who called upon such wizards to help cure his mother’s life-threatening illness, while the fourth offers pithy instructions for how to become a medicine wizard oneself.
