Abstract

Three tungsten sheet materials have been examined in this study. Two sheet materials were prepared by chemical vapor deposition and exhibited a fine grain morphology. For comparison purposes, a third sheet material was evaluated which was prepared by conventional powder consolidation and rolling. These materials have been examined for microstructure and crystallographic texture. Additonally, mechanical properties have been measured in tension at 500°C and 1000°C for each of the sheet materials. It was found that the tensile strength and ductility of fine-structure CVD sheet has equivalent properties to the P/M wrought sheet at the testing temperatures noted.
