Abstract
Compared to the traditional energy sources, renewables are experiencing a rapid and high growth, which point them as a real alternative to fossil fuels. This increased evolution is outstanding in developing countries. China, as the most populous and thought fossil dependant is playing an important role in energy trade; and more concretely during last three years, in renewables. This paper performs a general overview of the recent consumption trends, policies and investment in renewables, focusing on China. Finally, the efficiency of the renewables is questioned, and the authors propose the spatialized application of the EROI to better calculate their cost-effectiveness by location
