Abstract

High-energy x-ray powder diffraction was used to analyze the magnetic field (MF) dependence of the phase separation (PS) in the manganite. Below a temperature T c, the compound showed intrinsic inhomogeneities in the form of coexisting competing phases. It was shown that the application of MF eliminates the multiple phases below T c and significantly affects the structure above T c. It was found that the MF-induced structural phase transition occurs abruptly at 2 K but is smooth at higher temperatures.
