Abstract

A novel defected ground structure (DOS) with 50Ω microstrip line is investigated for lowpass filter applications. The basic resonant element of the proposed DGS unit shows the characteristics of elliptic function. The equivalent lumped circuit model for the DGS is developed and its parameters are extracted. Based on the DGS, a lowpass filter with sharp rejection in the stopband using 50Ω microstrip line is developed. The theoretical and measured results are presented. © 2005 IEEE.
