Abstract

This presentation exhibits a small low-profile wideband patch antenna with dielectric resonator (DR) loading. This compact antenna consists of a square patch with shorting walls and cross-shaped probe feeding to increase the bandwidth of the conventional patch antenna to 50% and also minimizes the height of the antenna to less than 0.1 λL. Additional dielectric resonator loading is used to further increase the impedance bandwidth up to 70%, from 2.44 to 5.12GHz. The height is maintained at 0.081 λL and the square patch size is 0.244 λL where λL referred to the lowest operating frequency.
