Abstract
A 5 year-old Holstein cow was admitted to the university veterinary hospital (Montreal university) for frothy bloat occurring 10h to 12h after the accidental ingestion of a large quantity of soybean meal.
In order to prevent the clinical consequences, the rumen was emptied by rumenotomy and an intravenous acid treatment were initiated rapidly. The cow was discharged 5 days after admission without any sequelae.
