Abstract

This paper explores the nature and scope of web based teaching. We argue that since the use of Web technology has transformed the nature of the 'delivery channels' and 'teaching relationships', we are witnessing an emergence of radically different 'instructor ethics'. The argument is conducted by analysing the authors' personal experiences in the development and delivery of web based teaching materials. We adapt the framework proposed by Vepsælæinen and Mækelin [3] to interpret various issues in web based teaching and the resultant ethical challenges.
