Abstract

In this manuscript, a novel dual-band shared-aperture dual-circularly polarized (CP) phased array antenna for satellite communication is proposed, which is constructed by 4 × 4 dual-band (K-/Ka-band) elements and 8 higher-band (Ka-band) elements. The two type elements are both excited by the travelling-wave sequential feeding network and employ stacked metasurface structure as radiator to realize dual-CP, guarantee the planar integration and compact configuration. The measured results show that the proposed array operates at 19.5-21.2 GHz (8.3%) and 27.5-28.8 GHz (2.3%) respectively, and the isolations between adjacent elements in each band are higher than 19 dB. The scanning angle is up to ± 55° in K-band and ± 60° in Ka-band, and both the ARs and gain drops are less than 5 dB in the whole scanning ranges of two bands. © 2024 IEEE.
