Abstract

John Shum Kin-fun (“Johnny”, born 1952) is a well-known Hong Kong actor and
film producer. In the 1970s, along with Ng Chung-yin (Wu Zhongxian) and other
young radicals in Hong Kong, he took part in local Trotskyist activities and
became a key organiser in the movement. In the late 1970s and the early 1980s, he
tired of the fights within Trotskyist circles and devoted himself to the film industry.
This interview, conducted by Louisa Wei (LW), describes Shum’s ( JS) experience
as a Trotskyist.
