Abstract
In this review, the role of interfacial properties in influencing the mechanical properties of fibre-reinforced composites is considered. Techniques suitable for investigating the interfacial properties of metal-matrix composites and ceramic-matrix composites are outlined. Models based on the strength-based criterion and the energy-based criterion for the pushout test are also presented.
