    Abstract

A novel integration of design and controllability method is proposed for the process design under uncerta1inty. The key idea is to integrate the robust eigenvalue assignment with the robust optimal design to achieve the desirable design performance and dynamic performance. The robust optimal design is to have a trade-off between robustness and optimization for the steady-state economic design, and the robust eigenvalue assignment is to maintain the system eigenvalues in the desirable domain and make these eigenvalues less sensitive to uncertainty so that the system has the desirable dynamic response. The CSRT example is applied to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed integration method. ©2009 ACA.
