Abstract

It is of great significance for the development of hydrogen energy to explore efficient, stable, and resource-rich non-precious metal eletrocatalysts instead of precious metal eletrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In this work, we in-situ synthesized the MoS2/Co9S8 heterostructure by synthesizing MoS2@Co9S8 nanosheets on the carbon cloth (MoS2@Co9S8/CC). Benefiting from the abundant active sites provided in the nanosheet structure grown with few layers of MoS2 and the synergistic effect caused by the in situ synthesized heterostructure between MoS2 and Co9S8, MoS2@Co9S8/CC exhibits excellent HER catalytic performance with an ultra-low overpotential of 73 mV at current density of 10 mA cm−2 and a Tafel slope of 78 mV dec−1.
