Abstract

Universal application of international norms requires good leadership. It is a proper time to reflect on the leadership failures to the COVID-19 pandemic. As of today, on May 19, 2021, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 25.5 million confirmed cases with over 279,000 deaths in the country, which is likely an underestimation due to limited testing according to the World Health Organization and the United States scholars. Based on this background situation, my introductory 12 minutes talk, will focus on Indian leadership failures in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its commitment to Eastphalian processes of international health. Finally, I will reflect on the importance of improving effective good governance at each level which can increase local, regional and global health security.
