Abstract

Aiming to understand Hong Kong people’s attitudes toward the three types of incentives (honorary, familist, compensationalist) for organ donation, we conducted a questionnaire with the method of cluster sampling. We divided the Hong Kong population into clusters according to its eighteen districts (local councils) and then selected four districts to carry out the survey. To make sure that the sampling represents the larger population of Hong Kong, we reached out to respondents from private estates and public housing in each of the four representative districts. After several rounds of data collection and data cleaning, 1600 valid respondents remained. The survey results provide a general picture of Hong Kong people’s preferences in relation to the three types of incentive as well as their feelings about the usefulness of particular incentive measures because our samples reflect the characteristics of the larger population of Hong Kong. This chapter summarizes the findings of this survey. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
