N2 - In the present paper, the high temperature deformation behavior of Mo-based alloys is discussed. Recent experiments have shown that Mo alloys (e.g. Mo-Nb, Mo-Re) deformed at elevated temperatures exhibit some characteristics of Class I alloys: a stress exponent of 3, a moderate to large elongation, little to no primary creep or inversion of primary creep, and sample necking down to a point. Theoretical considerations for Class I alloys, in particular for Mo-based alloys, are also given. It is shown that relatively large atomic size mismatches tend to characterize Class I solid solution alloys, but this is not a consistent guideline for the prediction of Class I solid solution behavior in Mo alloys.
