Abstract
Immersive Postcard from Sicily, in line with the Shared Campus, Cultures-Histories-Futures theme group workshop question ‘Are We Contemporary?’, invites audience to become a part of multimodal experience exploring the cultural and natural heritage of Sicily in Virtual Reality environment.
Cultures-Histories-Futures theme group Workshop Abstract
To explore the temporalities we are developing in relation to the question ‘Are We Contemporary?’, we have devised a workshop which will invite you to reflect on where – and when – you are through sensory experiences that are local to you. The session will include walking, loafing and talking, recording and transmitting, locating and dislocating, and working together in the Zoom space to flex our understanding of its technical and social codes. We are aiming, through this workshop, to raise our collective awareness of colonial and extractivist practices embedded in the technologies and disciplinary practices we use.
Workshop proposed and organised by: Prof. Alison Green, University of the Arts London, Mirjana Dokic, PhD Student, School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong, Prof. Davis William, Zurich University of the Arts, Prof. Imamura Yusaku, Tokyo University of the Arts and Prof. Daniel Hug, Zurich University of the Arts
