Abstract
This paper presents a method for illumination control for the image based rendering technology, which can be used in the medical exposure psychology therapy virtual reality to enhance the feeling of presence. With this approach, the image of the scene under a novel light condition can be synthesized by interpolation on the precaptured reference images under various illumination conditions. To handle the associated huge data volume, we introduce the spherical wavelet with baseline wavelet. Good features of the proposed method are demonstrated in the simulation results and the comparison with the JPEG approach.
