Abstract
Housing and the housing market are apparently more central than ever to the shaping of life chances and to increasingly differentiated opportunities across the life course, with interest in this area growing substantially in the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis. Twenty years ago, these issues were brought to light in Forrest and Murie's ‘Housing and Family Wealth’. This article reflects on the arguments set out in the edited collection and offers a viewpoint on the contemporary debates surrounding housing and family wealth.
