Abstract

Far-field wireless power transmission always suffers from antenna radiation/polarization misalignment, and unknown distances between a base station and rectenna ends. To solve such problem, 2nd/3rd harmonics generated from RF-to-dc rectification are exploited. Consequently, an interesting relationship between harmonic and radiation/polarization, distance can be established. To further realize high isolation between incidence and harmonic backscattered signals, novel diplexers are adopted. Together with a shared-aperture dual band antenna, a compact rectenna can be facilitated for high-efficiency simultaneous wireless information and power transmission (SWIPT) by exploiting 2nd/3rd harmonics. © 2021 IEEE.
