Abstract

As a parallel project to Museum of the Lost, this photo series re-enacted the indefinite moment of historical and mass photos where unidentified characters were included. To further address the notion of identity and representation, the authors investigated meticulously the fashion and gesture of the recorded time before posing themselves as the subject. A split second captured previously has been extended conceptually into hours of shooting session. The self-conscious process of research and re-enactment was attempted to pay attention and to bring life to the forgotten ones in history as an artistic strategy to subvert the authoritative historical meaning, while the resultant work promoted a new visual choreography of daily life.
