Abstract
Villager Ms Cheng, artist Michael Leung and community art worker Nanxi Liu will discuss hegemonic forces that have led to the displacement and eviction of over 300 villagers in Wang Chau. The struggle has been reported by local media however nuanced and less vocal villagers and their stories have gone unreported. British colonial policies continue to affect so-called non-indigenous villagers in Hong Kong. How can this Happening support situated knowledges in the few remaining gardens in Wang Chau, and be useful to local and transnational land resistances happening elsewhere?
