Abstract

A stringent peer-review process supported by reputed international experts in sensor networks has selected five high-quality contributions to this Special Section for publication in the IEEE Transactions On Industrial Informatics. They cover a wide range of interesting topics in sensor networks related to energy efficient error control coding, network coding applied to multi-packet flooding problem, distributed filtering to optimize the bandwidth utilization and energy consumption, energy efficient transmit power control for medical IoT devices, and a low power and small form factor sensor device technologies for challenging measurement environments. The first paper presents COPE which is an energy efficient sender-initiated MAC protocol.
