Abstract
Elemental carbon in sp2 hybridization can form many novel morphologies at nanoscale, including fullerene, carbon nanotube, and graphene. Assembling these nanostructured units opens up a pathway to build sp2-hybridized carbon based superstructures with potential multifunctions. This Chapter reviews previous theoretical works on graphene-based superarchitectures and assemblies. Some novel hybrid carbon nanostructures, such as fullerene polymer, nanotube superarchitecture, nanopeapod, nanobud, nanofunnel, and nanofoam, are presented, and their potential applications in electronics and energy storage are discussed.
