abstract = "In this paper, a transparent glass dielectric resonator (DR) antenna (DRA) with omnidirectional radiation patterns is designed at 2.4 GHz and demonstrated in a multifunctional Wi-Fi router system. The glass DRA is engraved with an inner 3D pattern to make it more aesthetically pleasing. To obtain the omnidirectional radiation patterns, the glass DRA is excited by a central probe inside. For demonstration, the prototype was fabricated and measured showing results reasonably consistent with the simulated ones. For testing the entire Wi-Fi router system, the glass DRA is placed on the top of a cylindrical lamp base which integrates multi-function modules and makes the antenna rotate. It was found the entire system can work properly as expected. This idea can be extended to include any inner 3D patterns in any forms.",
