Abstract
The input/output selection in multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) systems based on controllability and observability indices were investigated by using genetic algorithms. The two approaches which were considered for multivariable control systems were reduction of size and decomposition into smaller subsystems. The results showed that the proposed algorithms possessed very fast convergence rate and high computation efficiency.
