Abstract

A simple and robust self-seeding scheme based on a linearly chirped Bragg fiber grating was developed for the generation of wavelength-tunable short pulses with a high sidemode suppression ratio (SMSR) and chirp compensation. Using this scheme, chirp-reduced single-mode gigahertz picosecond pulses with a wavelength-tuning range of 11.5nm and a SMSR better than 40dB over the entire tuning range were generated.
