Generation of three-photon entangled state by quantum interference between a coherent state and parametric down-conversion

Research output: Journal Publications and ReviewsRGC 21 - Publication in refereed journalpeer-review

Abstract

The generation of multiparticle entangled state by combining a coherent state with parametric down-conversion was analyzed. It was found that quantum interference between the two states caused the cancellation of unwanted photon states. A modified coherent state (MCS) was a coherent state with the two-photon or the three-photon terms missing. The disappearance of the two-photon terms was due to destructive two-photon interference between the two-photon amplitudes of a coherent state and parametric down conversion.
