Abstract
Symposium presentation and panel discussion regarding urban gaming. In association with the exhibition 'Always at the edge of things and between places' this panel brought together game developers, game scholars and urban game practitioners. To look behind the curtain of public play: from a designer-oriented perspective, what are the differences between urban games and video games? With concrete examples, it will discussed challenges, obstacles, and chances in this game branch. From a more academic point of view, ti will discussed playful strategies to reframe societal systems in relation to the physical environment, in order to gain new perceptions and conceptions of space.
