Frequency-Tunable Circularly Polarized Dielectric Resonator Antenna Using Piezoelectric Actuator

Research output: Chapters, Conference Papers, Creative and Literary Works › RGC 32 - Refereed conference paper (with host publication) › peer-review

Abstract

This paper presents the first investigation of a frequency-tunable circularly polarized (CP) dielectric resonator antenna (DRA). The DRA is excited by a T-shaped metallic strip, where the offset position of the strip generates the CP field. Frequency tunability is obtained by perturbing the electric field within the resonator using four movable dielectric posts. These posts are actuated by a piezoelectric bending actuator, enabling dynamic tuning. Simulated results demonstrate that the antenna maintains high total efficiency across the CP frequency tuning range, exceeding 90%. © 2025 IEEE.
