Abstract

Tertiary institutes and in particular business schools have increasingly witnessed a growing emphasis on nurturing responsible leaders. The classroom experience, especially when reinforced through experiential learning methods enables students to acquire technical knowledge and other skills and competencies, while co-curricular activities can serve to provide a complementary experience for students to engage in professional and personal development. Particularly through overseas immersions experiences, students will have the chance to enrich themselves holistically through experiential learning opportunities such as internship, study abroad, overseas placement and service learning. It is argued here that The study will evaluate the effectiveness of the service learning programs organized by a business college of a publically-funded university with quantitative and qualitative analyses, and argues that the provision of appropriate and relevant experiential learning context and interventions are imperative in order to foster such informed and responsible future leaders.
