N2 - While illustrating the development of a borderland casino, this chapter examines the gaming industry in Vietnam’s tourism space against the backdrop of a macro trend of a prospering gambling and gaming economy across Asia. Places such as Macau have implanted a new model of the gambling and leisure economy in relation to tourism development. As tourism has been on the rise in the entire region of Asia, the impetuous growth of the gaming industry, which has been both caused by and contributed to the tourism boom, provides a particular niche for tourism researchers to look into the development of Asian tourism services.
