Abstract
We consider the field behavior in the neighborhood of a conducting edge embedded in an inhomogeneous anisotropic medium which is described by arbitrary permittivity and permeability tensors. We derive an eigenequation, whose minimum root governs the behavior of each of the field components in the vicinity of the edge. Numerical examples are given for some typical geometries encountered in waveguiding structures.
