Abstract
Microstrip-line-fed wide-slot antennas of different dimensions are analyzed using the finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) method. The numerical results are checked against experimental results and reasonable agreement is obtained. The antenna can be matched by adjusting the length of the matching stub. This happens when the trailing edge of the stub is within the width of the slot. In addition, it is found that the impedance bandwidth of the antenna can be improved by widening the slot.
