Abstract

In this Letter, we fabricate porous high entropy intermetallic (HEI) with a Laves phase through chemical immersion dealloying of thermally annealed eutectic high entropy alloys in diluted aqua regia. The thermodynamics and kinetics of the chemical dealloying process were systematically investigated. Compared to the bulk HEI, the dealloyed HEI is malleable with an ultra-fine ligament size. Furthermore, our results clearly show that our porous HEI exhibits a specific strength higher than many porous metals reported so far.
