Abstract
The fabrication of germanium-filled silica nanotubes and aligned silica nanofibers was discussed. The fabrication was done by combining thermal evaporation of SiO powders and laser ablation of a Ge target. It was found that the creation of the chemically inert SiO2 sheath around the Ge core can prevent the oxidation of fabricated nanotubes.
