Abstract

Linearization of a BJT using a diode configured in parallel with the input reduces 2nd-order distortion. Using a simple behavioral model cannot explain why this reduces IMD3. The experimental work presented in this paper will verify the mechanism involved and the possible range for reducing IMD3 by reducing the 2nd-order effects. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
